Glossary of Croshame Terminology

Ami-gore-umi (n) – Croshame’s special name for her bloodier crocheted creations.

Angrycrafts (n) – Any corruptive, disruptive or disturbing crafts (see Shknitting, croshame, retardsia, and antigurumi).

Antigurumi (n) – Amigurumi (crocheted toys) with a subversive, sinister or just plain offensive twist.

BCT (n) – Burgeoning Carpal Tendonitis. A self-diagnosis I’ve invented  to describe the ulna-rotting, shoulder-collapsing, explodey-vein sensations that occur in my arms after a daily marathon of frenzied and violent art-making.

Croshame (n) – 1. The addiction to crochet, blended with an abhorrent dislike of its appearance. 2. The screen name of the author of this blog (aka Shove).

Getting intarded (v) – The act of creating retardsia.

Retardsia (n) – 1. A form of intarsia (creating imagery within knitting or crochet)  that doesn’t fit into the normal variety of standard themes or just don’t look right. 2. The place where you go to create bad intarsia designs.

Shknitter (n) – A beginning knitter who may be really gung-ho about the craft but isn’t really very good at it yet.

Shknitting (v) – The act of shitty knitting, most commonplace amongst frustrated beginners (aka Shknitters).
