ABOUT
With a background in painting, drawing and traditional sculpture, Shove Mink (AKA Croshame) took up crocheting on a lark in 2009. The quaint hobby soon blossomed into an all-out obsession when she began making her own “soft sculptures for the hard hearted” in 2010. Her newfound love and fervor for the medium of amigurumi (or cartoon-like sculptural crochet) prompted her to concentrate more heavily on her art than ever before, and she quickly built up a large array of charmingly disturbed crochet characters, along the way learning other fiber art mediums and techniques including sculptural needle-felting, felt appliqué and embroidery, more recently integrating watercolor, collage, calligraphy and other mixed media.
Shove graduated with a BFA in Painting and Drawing from San Francisco’s California College of the Arts in 2002. An avid movie and art history enthusiast, she has also authored several zines and comic books.
